Testing

A figure skater’s progress is measured by a series of tests, which are governed by the U.S. Figure Skating Association. EPFSC conducts test sessions throughout the year, offering Skate Skills, Singles, Pattern, and Free Dance evaluations.  Please contact Chris Houston at chrishouston1@hotmail.com for available test dates.

Most application deadlines are 7 days prior to the test date for in-person live sessions while registration for virtual test sessions usually remains open for the full 14-day recording period. Videos and affidavits must be loaded into google drives by testing coaches by the close date and close time. The test chair will not collect or upload any parts of the tests. Payment always needs to be received before close date. Payment can be check or Venmo to @EPFSC. Test sessions may be closed earlier than noted if the session is full prior to the close date.

Test fees are on a graduated scale based on the level of Singles or Skating Skills test, beginning with pre-preliminary test at $30, increasing to $65 for a gold-level test. Dance tests range from $20 to $40 per for Home Club members and $30 to $50 per for Non-Members. Home club skaters have priority on all test sessions.

Please print the EPFSC test application and return by email to Chris Houston at chrishouston1@hotmail.com.

Testing outside EPFSC

  • Please check the Twin City Figure Skating Association event calendar for test sessions at area clubs. Test fees may vary.
  • To test at another club, you must also notify EPFSC test chairperson, Chris Houston, upon registration. The hosting club will require approval from our test chair prior to test day.

In-Person & Virtual Testing Information & Disclaimer
All in-person live testing sessions are on Rink 1 at Eden Prairie Community Center. Skaters: dress and fix your hair as you would for a competition. Skaters may wear dark-colored skate jackets/sweaters and gloves for a moves test, but it is best to remove them for a freestyle test.

All dates and times are subject to change. Test sessions may be cancelled if fewer than 10 test applications are submitted or judges are not available. Test applications and payments are due no later than seven (7) days before an in-person live session. Applications will be processed by seniority if more applications are received than time allows. A $25 late fee applies for applications received after the deadline. Please check this page and our calendar for any changes and/or updates.
